Landscape Perspective was commissioned in 2007 by Dutch retail developer Multi Development to carry out a review of the public realm associated with its redevelopment proposals for the Southgate area of Bath, a designated World Heritage Site. The £360m redevelopment, to be carried out over ten years, will create a network of new shopping streets and squares, linking the mainline railway station with the historic heart of the city.

It will replace an existing 1960s shopping precinct and, once completed, will create a vibrant new urban quarter for Bath with over 417,000m2 retail and leisure, plus 93 apartments including 23 affordable homes. The redevelopment also includes a new bus station and refurbishment of the Grade 2* listed Bath railway station. The revised public realm proposals were granted planning consent in February 2008.
