Frimley4 Business Park, Surrey

Frimley4 Business Park was acquired by AG Frimley GP Ltd in 2011. As part of an extensive refurbishment strategy Landscape Perspective were commissioned to enhance the central amenity space visible from the main access road and the adjacent River Blackwater.

The design concept incorporated a substantial artwork to draw the eye towards the river, with associated paving and planting to improve access whilst at the same time creating order and symmetry throughout. Working with artist and sculptor Allison Armour the ‘Moongate’ concept was developed. 5m in diameter, fabricated from polished stainless steel and lit internally and externally, it is a striking piece of art and with the ability to walk through it, allows the viewer to engage with the piece.

An elliptical lawn surrounds the sculpture, with a further ellipse of granite paving and bench seating, and 6m high sculptural coloured ‘light stacks’ from Woodhouse.

Large Hornbeam trees and a clipped hedge provide a backdrop to the space with further areas of planting and ground modelling to integrate the new and existing landscapes. The riverside walk was re-modelled and new native marginal and aquatic planting was carried out to enhance the river corridor as a wildlife habitat.
